Asia Pacific Space Leaders Award 2025 is a fully funded opportunity allows young professionals and students to attend the 11th Asia-Pacific Space Generation Workshop (AP-SGW) in Mactan, Cebu, Philippines, on November 15–16, 2025. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the space sector and provides financial support to attend this prestigious event.

Eligibility

  • Open to all students, organizing team members, and young professionals
  • Ages 18–35 as of November 16, 2025
  • To be eligible, applicants should have had at least some past contributions to SGAC, as volunteers, or attending SGAC events.
    • Examples of contributions include: attending SGAC events, being a member of an SGAC event team, working with SGAC project groups or being a member of the SGAC team including RCs, NPoCs, Executive Office.

  • Must reside in an Asia-Pacific country, check the SGAC Asia Pacific Region
  • Scholarship judges are ineligible for the award.
  • Past winners of the AP-SLA or any regional awards are ineligible for this award.
  • Winners should not receive support from any other source for the event. Should winners receive such support midway through the program, SGAC shall be informed and a solution will be sought.

Program Dates/Location

  • Applicants must add the link of their videos in the form as unlisted YouTube videos or accessible Google drive links.
    • Video should include:
      • Your motivation for applying
      • Your interest or experience in the space sector
      • Any projects or achievements relevant to the award
  • The language of all submissions must be English.

Responsibilities of Winners

The winner should:

  • Attend the 11th AP-SGW in its entirety
  • Submit a short report (1 page, excluding pictures) and a short video (1 minute uploaded onto YouTube) for inclusion on the SGAC website, newsletter or social media and that of our partners. The report and video shall describe the experience of the winner at the 11th AP-SGW. For example, speakers that were particularly interesting, group discussions that stood out or other event highlights.

Evaluation Criteria

The assessment of applications for the Asia Pacific Space Leaders Award will be evaluated by a panel composed of SGAC Chairs, Executive Director, Regional Coordinators, Scholarship Team Members and the 11th AP-SGW Organizing Team.

  • Contributions to the Space Sector (20%)
    • Scientific research (including publications, presentations, etc.)
    • Industrial research and development
    • Contribution to the management of space programs and projects
    • Involvement with space nonprofits and volunteering in the space community (other than SGAC)
    • Involvement in student activities relating to space
  • Contributions to SGAC (30%)
    • Attendance of SGAC events
    • Contribution to SGAC project groups or events
    • Volunteering with the SGAC team (Executive Committee, Executive Office Teams, Event Teams, or other teams)
    • Willingness to contribute in the future to SGAC

  • Prepare Your Application in English – All parts of your application must be written in English.
