Paul Calandra, Ontario Education Minister, states that there could be social media and cellphone ban at schools' properties.

Calandra stated that using cellphones and different social media platforms is not helpful for children at schools. During a news conference in southwest Ontario, Calandra made it clear that the province will cooperate with the federal government on the issue of social media use for children.

Additionally, he stated that he would like Ontario's regulations to go beyond what provinces like Manitoba had announced and that he is investigating a nearly complete ban on cellphones in schools with limited medical exceptions.

The issue is connected to a growing concern among parents regarding the unsupervised use of artificial intelligence chatbots like ChatGPT and social media platforms.
