The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is offering a paid communication internship in Berlin within its Project Development Programme (PDP), part of Germany’s Energy Solutions Initiative. Running from October 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, this internship focuses on supporting sustainable energy project development and communications. It’s aimed at students or recent graduates with a background in communication, social sciences, or renewable energy. Interns will contribute to content creation, research, and internal communications while receiving a monthly stipend of €2,205.04. Applications are open until August 5, 2025.

Eligibility

  • Must be currently enrolled at a university or have graduated within six months before internship start.
  • Field of study: social sciences, communication science, natural science, engineering, or economics
  • Some initial experience or coursework in renewable energy or energy efficiency
  • Good understanding of renewable energy tech, basic business models, and supportive policies
  • Knowledge of decentralized electrification, energy self-consumption is a plus
  • Strong communication and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills
  • Language skills: German and English at C1 required; French or Spanish at C1 is advantageous

Internship Tasks

You will support the PDP team in areas including:

  • Creating impact communication materials: success stories, visuals, image archive, modular presentations
  • Quality checking studies and sector analyses for publication
  • Researching political/legal frameworks and preparing country profiles
  • Managing internal communication: intranet updates, drafting guidelines
  • Refining visual/content layouts and editorial scheduling, plus basic project coordination support
