Efekta Launches AI Language Program for Students across Latin America and Rwanda

The Efekta Education Group, an offshoot of Education First, has introduced a personalized AI language learning program aimed at enhancing English proficiency among students aged 11 to 17 across Latin America and Rwanda. This initiative is set to impact up to four million students in countries including Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Rwanda.

The program features two key components: Classroom AI and Addi. Classroom AI assists teachers by automating repetitive tasks such as grading, thereby allowing them to focus more on student engagement. Addi, the AI tutor, provides students with adaptive language learning experiences tailored to their individual proficiency levels.

Efekta CEO Stephen Hodges expressed enthusiasm about the program, stating, “By blending AI with a structured curriculum, we give every student a chance to succeed and give teachers extra support. This program shows how technology, teamed with great teachers, can improve education at scale.”

This rollout builds upon Efekta’s previous success in the region, where over four million students have enrolled in English learning programs since 2022. Notably, a program in Paraná, Brazil, helped 750,000 students achieve a 32% improvement in the state’s standardized English test scores between 2022 and 2024.

The current initiative is being hailed as the world’s largest trial of AI tutoring combined with an AI teaching assistant, marking a significant step forward in the integration of technology in education.
