EPFL CYD Fellowship 2025/26 in Switzerland (Fully Funded)

The EPFL CYD Fellowships support talented researchers working on cyber defence topics in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Department of Defence. Open to master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral candidates from any discipline, the program provides funding, mentorship, and research support to advance innovative projects that contribute to Switzerland’s cybersecurity capabilities. Fellows are encouraged to work closely with the CYD Campus in Lausanne and foster collaboration between academia, government, and industry. 

Eligibility

For the CYD Master Thesis Fellowships (6 Months):

• Open to all nationalities.
• No age limits.
• Currently enrolled Master’s student.
• Professor/Supervisor endorsement.

For the CYD Doctoral Fellowships (4 Years)

• Open to all nationalities and ages.
• Enrolled in a Swiss doctoral program.
• Professor’s endorsement.
• Preference for early-stage PhDs
• Flexible funding duration.

For the CYD Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships (2 Years)

• Open to all nationalities and ages.
• Professor’s endorsement required.
• New research environment.

Types of EPFL CYD Fellowships and Their Benefits

1) CYD Master Thesis Fellowships

The CYD Master Thesis Fellowship offers candidates the opportunity to conduct six months of research, enabling them to complete their Master’s thesis at the CYD Campus. This research is conducted under the supervision of a professor or supervisor from a Swiss higher education institution.

2) CYD Doctoral Fellowships

The CYD Doctoral Fellowship offers a four-year package. This enables fellows to complete their PhD thesis at the CYD Campus under the supervision of a Swiss university professor.

3) CYD Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships

The CYD Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships provide up to two years of salary, research, and conference funds. This supports fellows in completing a research project at the CYD Campus under the guidance of a Swiss university professor.
