Are you a female student aiming to pursue a Master’s degree in Europe? The Helmut Veith Scholarship for the 2025–2026 academic year in Austria is now accepting applications. Offered by the Vienna Center for Logic and Algorithms (VCLA), this scholarship is open exclusively to outstanding and motivated female students (male applicants are not eligible). It supports those interested in enrolling in one of the eligible English-taught Computer Science master’s programs at TU Wien during the upcoming semesters: winter 2025/2026, summer 2026, or winter 2026/2027.

Eligibility

  • Only female students are eligible.
  • Applicants must be eligible to get admission in one of the eligible master’s programs in computer science at TU Wien in 2025/2026 that are taught in English
  • The eligible programs are: Master in Logic and Computation, Master in Data Science, Master in Business Informatics, Master in Computer Engineering, Master in Media and Human-Centered Computing, and Master in Software Engineering and Internet Computing.
  • Students must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Mathematics or equivalent degree.
  • They should have extensive mathematical and technical knowledge and interest in any of the research areas of Helmut Veith: Logic in Computer Science, Formal Methods and Verification, Foundations of Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms and Complexity Theory, or Computer Security.
  • They must be proficient in English.

Program Benefits

  • Students will get a full tuition fee waiver.
  • They will get an annual allowance of EUR 7,000 for two years.

Conditions

Recipients of funding must be committed to demonstrate good progress during their studies, i.e.:

  • obtain at least 25 ECTS credits from the respective master’s curriculum per term on average since the beginning of their master’s studies (the deadlines are April 30 for the winter term and November 30 for the summer term), and

  • achieve a grade average of at most 1.5

  • Recipients of funding have to reside in Austria during term time for the duration of their studies. Exceptions and temporary interruptions of the stay during term time (e.g., for internships or research visits) are subject to approval

  • The stipend is provided for the duration of the master’s program (subject to the conditions listed above), for up to 2 years

Note: If the candidate’s Bachelor studies have been taught in the English language, a confirmation of the respective university about the number of semesters that the candidate studied in English will be accepted in lieu of a language certificate
