This scholarship, funded by Nazabayev University (NU), covers 100% of tuition fees, provides a monthly stipend, and includes basic medical insurance for the entire program duration. No separate scholarship application is required: all qualified international applicants are considered by default during NU admissions. The scholarship is available for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs. Ideal candidates are international high-school or university graduates who meet NU’s admission criteria (including entrance exams and English proficiency) and who have been admitted to NU.

Eligibility

Open to non-Kazakh students worldwide who are admitted to an NU degree program .

  • Applicants must meet NU’s entry requirements (academic qualifications, English scores, etc.).
  • There is no separate age or nationality restriction beyond being non-citizens of Kazakhstan.
  • Ideal for International students admitted to NU undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral programs; especially those pursuing STEM and interdisciplinary fields.

Program Dates

  • Follows NU’s academic calendar.
  • Prospective students should apply during NU’s admission cycles (deadlines vary by program; e.g. Master’s deadline ~ July 10, 2025).
  • The scholarship is awarded after admission is confirmed, so there is no independent application deadline beyond university admission dates.
  • It is a full-time, on-campus degree programs (undergraduate/graduate). Scholarship lasts for the entire study period of the chosen program.

Program Coverage and Benefits 

Covers 100% of tuition fees

Provides the monthly stipend and health insurance as per NU policy. Does not cover airfare or personal living expenses beyond the stipend (a fixed monthly stipend, (approximately 48,182 KZT (80.17 EUR)  for undergrad; 181,250 KZT( 301.58 EUR) for Master’s; 217,500 KZT (361.89 EUR) for PhD, and basic health insurance.) 

Required Documents

No additional documents beyond NU’s regular admission requirements. NU students typically submit:

  • Transcripts
  • English test scores ( depends on admission, check https://apply.nu.edu.kz/en/admissions#!/tab/815264011-1)

Application Process

Apply for admission via NU’s online portal (https://admissions.nu.edu.kz/wps/portal) by the program-specific deadline. When accepted, the Abay scholarship is awarded automatically. 

Application fee is fee is 10,000 tenge.

Important Information
