A prestigious, fully funded one‑year Master’s in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University, Beijing, designed to cultivate the next generation of global leaders with a deep understanding of China’s role in world affairs 

Application Timeline

  • Opens: April 10, 2025
  • Deadline (Global Applicants): September 10, 2025, by 3 p.m. EDT
  • Selection Process: October–November 2025
  • Program Start: August 2026

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Nationality: Open to all nationalities – (Azerbaijani citizens fully eligible)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree completed before August 1, 2026. There are no requirements for a specific field of undergraduate study; all fields are welcome, but it is important for applicants, regardless of undergraduate major, to articulate how participating in Schwarzman Scholars will help develop their leadership potential within their field.
  • Age Limit: 18–28 years old by August 1, 2026
  • Language: High English proficiency (TOEFL ≥100 iBT, IELTS ≥7.0, or Cambridge 185), waived if you studied at an undergraduate institution where the primary language of instruction was English for at least two years of the applicant’s academic program. The requirement will also be waived for applicants who have studied in English for two or more years at a Master’s degree level or higher
  • Profile: Strong academic record, proven leadership, global mindset, and commitment to cultural bridge-building

Application Components

  1. Online application via official portal
  2. Resume/CV (≤ 2 pages)
  3. Two essays: leadership (≈750 words) and statement of purpose (about 500 words)
  4. Academic transcripts
  5. Three recommendation letters
  6. Video introduction (1 min, optional but recommended)
  7. English proficiency test scores
  8. Disclosures & final sign-off

A select number of candidates will be invited for interviews in late October and early November. Interview expenses, such as economy class air or train travel, group meals, and one night in a hotel if needed, are arranged and covered by the program.
