Slovakia Launches “AI Days” to Bring Artificial Intelligence into Schools

Slovakia – The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth (MŠVVaM) of the Slovak Republic is launching the "AI Days" development project, within which it will support one hundred primary and secondary schools in organizing professional events focused on the use of artificial intelligence in education.

The program is open to primary and secondary schools across Slovakia, and applications can be submitted through the Ministry’s online e-grant system from August 20 to September 7, 2025. The 100 highest-rated schools will receive funding and the opportunity to nominate one teacher to develop a practical AI-focused output, supported through the national Digital Transformation of Education and School project.

The initiative aims to help schools use artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly, share good practices, and promote mutual learning among teachers. Selected schools can receive up to €2,000, split evenly between purchasing AI-related software for teachers and organizing AI Day events. Each nominated teacher can develop practical outputs such as tutorials, lesson scenarios, or exercises, earning a €400 reward and the chance to showcase their work nationally.

Participating schools must organize an AI Day between October 1 and November 7, 2025, lasting at least three hours and inviting teachers from at least two partner schools. During the event, teachers can explore AI’s practical applications, share experiences, and discuss both its benefits and potential risks in education. Schools are also required to publicize the event through websites, social media, or newsletters.

The Ministry aims for this initiative to modernize Slovak education while helping students and teachers develop digital skills and use AI technologies responsibly in the classroom.
