According to The Korea Herald, the new content will be added to “Korean for Everyone,” an online platform that provides AI-based Korean language proficiency assessments, personalized learning management and study materials tailored to students’ language levels.

The platform currently offers 1,820 lessons covering Korean speaking, grammar and vocabulary. It also features an AI-powered tutor that supports interactive listening, speaking, reading and writing practice based on Korean language textbooks.

Of the 130 new lessons, 50 will consist of preparatory courses designed for elementary school students entering Korean schools for the first time with limited Korean language skills. The remaining 80 lessons will focus on math vocabulary for first- and second-grade elementary students.

The preparatory course will begin with Hangul reading practice before introducing essential expressions used in school life, including greetings, school facilities, classroom items and school rules.

Meanwhile, the math vocabulary course will help young learners understand commonly used mathematical terms through illustrations and animations, making concepts easier to grasp.

The ministry said the new content was developed in response to growing demand from schools as the number of students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds continues to increase. A total of 17 elementary school teachers and Korean language education specialists participated in developing the curriculum.

The lessons will also provide text and audio support in 10 languages to help non-Korean-speaking students better understand learning objectives and key classroom expressions.
