A student has died after a medical emergency occurred at a school in Surrey. Parents have been officially informed about the incident.

The administration of Collingwood College in Camberley stated that a Year 8 student lost their life following an incident that took place on the school premises on Monday.

According to the BBC, other students were also informed, and the school said in a statement: “As a college community, we are deeply saddened by this tragic loss.”

A representative of Surrey Coroner’s Court confirmed that the death has been referred to the coroner for further investigation.

A spokesperson for Surrey Police stated that officers, along with crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb), attended the scene.

Collingwood College is a co-educational secondary school with approximately 1,700 students.

Secamb reported that the emergency call was received at around 14:10 GMT, and Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance also responded to the incident.

It was stated that the student received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to Frimley Park Hospital in a life-threatening condition.
