Tbilisi - Georgia has launched a major transformation of its higher education system through a new national strategy designed to modernize university infrastructure, governance, and academic quality by 2028. The reform aims to align the country’s higher education standards with those of Europe, addressing long-standing challenges in the sector.
The comprehensive strategy prioritizes upgrading outdated university facilities, enhancing research output, increasing transparency in university operations, and improving teaching quality. It also focuses on introducing better governance models for institutions and providing stronger support for academic staff.
Implementation efforts will focus on:
