Türkiye Integrates Differentiated Instruction into New National Curriculum for Inclusive and Personalized Learning

As part of the Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Modeli (Century of Türkiye Education Model), the Ministry of National Education has officially introduced differentiated instruction into the national curriculum for the first time. This approach aims to maximize every student’s potential by introducing a dynamic, flexible, and personalized teaching model.

Differentiated instruction is designed to create an inclusive classroom environment by addressing students’ diverse interests, abilities, and needs. It enables each learner to progress at their own pace and supports their cognitive, emotional, and social development.

In line with this vision, the Ministry has published Teacher’s Guidebooks for Differentiated Activities for Grades 1 and 2 (covering Life Sciences, Turkish, and Mathematics) and for Grades 5 and 6 (covering Turkish, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies). These resources have been made available on the national EBA (Education Information Network) platform for teachers across the country.

The guidebooks offer practical classroom activities tailored to different student profiles. By incorporating both enrichment strategies for advanced learners and support strategies for those needing extra assistance, the guides help educators manage diverse classrooms more effectively.

The Ministry emphasized that this student-centered approach promotes equity in education by respecting individual learning styles, encouraging flexible teaching processes, and providing tools for ongoing assessment.
