Türkiye Scholarships is a fully funded and prestigious scholarship program offered by the Government of Türkiye for outstanding international students and researchers.

The scholarship offers a wide range of programs tailored to different educational levels and academic interests, including:

The scholarship program offers:

  • University and Department Placement
    Students are placed directly into universities and academic departments based on their qualifications and preferences.
  • Full Tuition Fee Coverage
    All academic tuition fees are fully covered for the entire duration of study
  • One-Year Turkish Language Course
    Awardees who do not hold a C1 Turkish Proficiency Certificate must complete a one-year Turkish language course, enhancing academic research opportunities and easing daily life in Türkiye.
  • Monthly Stipend
    Financial support is provided monthly:
    • 4,500 TL for Associate and Bachelor’s students
    • 6,500 TL for Master’s students
    • 9,000 TL for PhD students

Eligibility and application criteria

Eligible Groups:

  • Citizens of all countries

  • Graduates or those who will graduate at the end of the current academic year (before August)

  • Researchers and academics

Ineligible Groups:

  • Turkish citizens and individuals who have lost Turkish citizenship

  • Individuals who are currently enrolled in programs in Turkish universities at the level of education will apply.

All applications are evaluated based on fundamental criteria, including minimum academic achievement, age limits specific to each level of education, and required documents.

Minimum Academic Achievement

  • Associate & Bachelor’s: 70%
  • Master’s & PhD: 75%
  • Health Sciences (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy): 90%

Age Requirements

  • Associate & Bachelor’s: Under 21
  • Master’s: Under 30
  • PhD: Under 35
  • Research Scholarships: Under 50

Application Timeline

  • Application Period: January 10 – February 20
  • Evaluation: March – April
  • Interviews: April – June
  • Results Announcement: Early August
  • Arrival in Türkiye: September

Required Documents

Applicants must submit their documents online through the Türkiye Scholarships Application System (TBBS), including:

  • Valid passport or ID
  • Recent photograph
  • Diploma or temporary graduation certificate
  • Academic transcript
  • National or international exam results (if applicable)
  • Language proficiency certificates (if required)
  • Research proposal and sample work (PhD applicants only)

Selection and Evaluation Process

Applications from eligible candidates; are considered by the Expert Committee in terms of various criteria such as academic status, previous qualifications, academic interests, career goals, consistency of preferences, content of the letter of intent, and participation in social activities.

After this stage, the final list of eligible candidates for the interview process will be set.

Shortlisted undergraduate candidates will be required to take a quantitative exam followed by face-to-face interviews conducted by expert committees. Interviews typically last 15–30 minutes and assess academic knowledge, motivation, and future plans.
