The Laura Bassi Scholarship, established in 2018, provides editorial assistance to postgraduate students and early-career academics whose research focuses on underrepresented or overlooked topics. It is hosted by the University of Graz, Austria, and offered three times a year (Spring, Summer, and Winter). Instead of direct funding, the award covers the costs of professional editing for theses, dissertations, or articles, helping improve publication chances and academic visibility.

Eligibility

• Open to:
  • Master’s students (currently enrolled)
  • Doctoral (PhD) candidates (currently enrolled)
  • Junior academics within the first 5 years of full-time academic employment
• No restrictions by discipline, nationality, or institution.
• Research must deal with underexplored or neglected topics.

• Application Rounds 2025:
  • Spring: Deadline 31 March → Results 10 April (closed)
  • Summer: Deadline 31 July → Results 10 August (closed)
  • Winter: Deadline 30 November → Results 11 December (open)

Program Benefits

  • Master’s: up to USD 750
  • PhD: up to USD 2,500

Application Process

1. Confirm eligibility (Master’s, PhD, or junior academic, any field).
2. Download and complete the application form via the Editing Press scholarship portal
3. Prepare supporting documents: CV + two 250-word statements.
4. Upload all materials together via the portal (do not send separately by email).
5. Submit by the round deadline (Spring, Summer, or Winter).
6. Wait for results (announced about 10 days after deadline).
