The University of Science and Technology of China is currently accepting applications for the USTC Research Internship 2026. Under the direction of seasoned USTC academics, this fully paid international internship invites bachelor's, master's, and doctoral students from around the world to take part in cutting-edge research initiatives. The program, which lasts anywhere from three to eleven months, gives students practical experience in the field of their choice.

Eligibility

  • Non-Chinese citizens with a foreign passport

  • Between 18-40 years old

  • In good health

  • Currently enrolled full-time students in undergraduate year 3/4, Master's, or doctoral programs

  • No criminal record

  • Good command of English

Program Dates/Location

  • Application Deadline: September 30, 2025 (for Spring Semester 2026)

  • Duration: 3 to 11 months

  • Location: University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, Anhui, China

Program Benefits

USTC offers 3 types of fellowships:

  • Level A:

    • Tuition Waiver

    • Comprehensive Medical Insurance

    • Free University Dormitory

  • Stipend:

    • 2,500 RMB (≈392 USD) per month for Bachelor’s students

    • 3,000 RMB (≈470 USD) per month for Master’s students

    • 3,500 RMB (≈550 USD) per month for PhD students

Application Process

Important Information:

  1.  Visa

    1. The admitted students should submit the Visa Application Form (JW202) and the admission notice to the Chinese Embassy or consulate to apply for a Chinese Student Visa. Students must enter the country with a Student Visa and ensure that the visa is valid during their stay in China.

  2. Insurance

    1. International students are required to purchase insurance in accordance with state regulations and school policies. Students pay the insurance fee, and USTC is responsible for purchasing the insurance.

  3. Accommodation

    1. USTC Fellowship Level A/Level B students are offered on-campus accommodation on a first-come, first-served basis. If on-campus accommodation is full, students are required to find off-campus accommodation on their own. 

    2. USTC Fellowship Level C/self-financed students need to find off-campus housing on their own, but USTC will assist in finding housing. 

    3. International students who live off campus shall register with the local police station in time. Full address and telephone number of the residence must be submitted at the time of registration.
