The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) is seeking a Model UN Program Assistant Intern to support the planning and execution of the WFUNA International Model United Nations (WIMUN) conferences. The intern will work directly with WFUNA’s Model UN Coordinator to prepare research, review content, and support conference logistics. The position is based in New York City, though remote arrangements are possible for strong candidates. 

Please note: this is an unpaid internship.

Eligibility

  • Must be working towards a bachelor’s degree or higher in international relations, political science, or a related field.
  • Previous Model UN experience (especially WIMUN) is a plus.
  • Research experience related to the UN or international affairs is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the United Nations system; nonprofit/civil society experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Personal traits: highly motivated, well-organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, creative thinker.

Program Dates/Location

  • Location: position is based in New York, but remote work is possible
    • UN Headquarters, New York City (Manhattan)

Intern's Role

  • Research Support: Prepare background material on global issues for conference sessions.
  • Country Positions and Matrices: Gather and organize official statements from UN Member States.
  • Content Review: Ensure handbooks, study guides, and bibliographies are accurate, clear, and ready for use.
  • Conference Assistance: Support program delivery and assist with logistics before and during the event
