The WIPO Young Experts Program (YEP) 2026/27 is a fully funded, prestigious, two-year initiative offered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a specialized agency of the United Nations. Held at WIPO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, the program is designed to equip young professionals with advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in the field of Intellectual Property (IP) and its vital role in development, innovation, creativity, and economic growth.

Participants will be embedded in various WIPO departments, engaging in both technical and strategic projects involving patents, copyrights, trademarks, and international IP systems. The program offers a structured learning experience with mentorship, training modules, and the chance to contribute to global IP development efforts. This is a unique opportunity for young professionals to gain exposure to international policymaking and expand their leadership potential in one of the fastest-evolving fields of global governance.

Eligibility

  • Open to candidates from all countries
  • Must be 35 years old or younger at the time of application
  • Must be available for the full 24-month commitment (2026–2028)
  • Must hold a university degree
  • Must have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience
  • Must demonstrate knowledge or experience in intellectual property, innovation, or creativity-related areas

Program Dates

Program Coverage

  • A monthly stipend of 5000 Swiss Francs (CHF)
  • Contribution to cover 75% of medical insurance costs
  • Accident insurance
  • Contribution towards travel expenses
  • WIPO may assist in obtaining an entry visa into Switzerland
  • WIPO’s staff counsellor may provide guidance regarding accommodation
